The biblical doctrine of the sanctification of the believer has become lost to a vast number of people who profess faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Sadly, many Christians think that after they are born again, the next big event is going to heaven. Thus, life for the modern American Christian becomes a quest for their best life now.

Is that really Christianity? Is that what Jesus taught? Is that the message of the Bible? The answer is a resounding NO. There is so much more for every believer in Jesus Christ to experience. We are told this throughout the pages of Scripture. For example:

  • Paul wrote to the Colossian believers that Jesus Christ is our hope of glory (Col. 1:27).
  • To the Roman believers, Paul wrote: For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (Rom. 8:18).
  • The writer to the Hebrews said that Jesus Christ is bringing many sons to glory (Heb. 2:10).
  • And the Apostle Peter wrote in his 2nd epistle that believers will become partakers of the divine nature of Jesus Christ.

Friends, it sure sounds to me like Christians have a spiritual inheritance of unimaginable glory. But don’t just see this within the context of the sweet by and by. Sanctification in the here and now is a process of apprehending the glory of the Father revealed to us in Jesus Christ.
