The Bible is the ageless, always perfect, always applicable word from God’s mind to the hearts of HIs people. I have walked in faith with Yahweh for 37 years now, and I am consistently amazed at the things He reveals to me in the Bible.<\/p>\n

Reading in 1 Peter 1 today, a statement there popped off the page. Have you ever experienced that? A passage of Scripture you have read many times before comes into sharp focus? Here is the passage I was reading.<\/p>\n

3\u00a0<\/sup>Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who\u00a0according to His great mercy\u00a0has caused us to be born again to\u00a0a living hope through the\u00a0resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,<\/span>\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>to\u00a0obtain<\/i>\u00a0an\u00a0inheritance\u00a0which is<\/i>\u00a0imperishable, undefiled, and\u00a0will not fade away,\u00a0reserved in heaven for you,<\/span>\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup>who are\u00a0protected by the power of God\u00a0through faith for\u00a0a salvation ready\u00a0to be revealed in\u00a0the<\/i>\u00a0last time.<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>In this you greatly rejoice, even though now\u00a0for a little while,\u00a0if necessary, you have been distressed by\u00a0various trials,<\/span>\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup>so that the proof of your faith,\u00a0being<\/i>\u00a0more precious than gold which perishes\u00a0though tested by fire,\u00a0may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at\u00a0the revelation of Jesus Christ;<\/span>\u00a08\u00a0<\/sup>and\u00a0though you have not seen Him, you\u00a0love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,<\/span>\u00a09\u00a0<\/sup>obtaining as\u00a0the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.<\/span><\/p>\n

10\u00a0<\/sup>As to this salvation, the prophets who\u00a0prophesied of the\u00a0grace that\u00a0would come<\/i>\u00a0to you made careful searches and inquiries,<\/span>\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup>seeking to know what person or time\u00a0the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He\u00a0predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.<\/span>\u00a012\u00a0<\/sup>It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who\u00a0preached the gospel to you by\u00a0the Holy Spirit sent from heaven\u2014things into which\u00a0angels long to look.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That statement made me pause. I remind people often that what we do today does have an impact on our tomorrow. The same truth applies to groups of people and nations. The choices we make today will impact our tomorrow. My thoughts turned immediately to my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren. Am I truly serving them by my actions today? The prophets of old sought to understand the things the Spirit of God was speaking to them and through them to others and were told that the things God called them to do and say were for the benefit of future generations.<\/p>\n

That spiritual truth and principle must be rediscovered and taught to Christians today. We are most certainly serving God in our own day BUT He desires that we leave a legacy of His goodness toward us, a living testimony if you will, that will serve as a strong foundation for our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren long after we have left this earth for our eternal home in heaven. Amen?<\/p>\n

I pray you are encouraged today to begin looking beyond the current circumstances of our own times to those of our loved ones who will follow after us. What can we do today that will serve them tomorrow and after we have gone on to our glory?<\/p>\n
