The recent SCOTUS decision that had the net effect of legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states was based on nothing more than the personal beliefs of 5 judges. Chief Justice John Roberts warned Americans not to look for justification for the ruling in the Constitution because it cannot be found.<\/p>\n

Justice Scalia went even further in denouncing the decision by stating that his colleagues have taken to making social policy from the bench instead of interpreting the law. Scalia noted in particular that, \u201cThe strikingly unrepresentative character of the body voting on today\u2019s social upheaval would be irrelevant if they were functioning as judges, answering the legal question whether the American people had ever ratified a constitutional provision that was understood to proscribe the traditional definition of marriage. But of course the Justices in today\u2019s majority are not voting on that basis; they say they are not. And to allow the policy question of same-sex marriage to be considered and resolved by a select, patrician, highly unrepresentative panel of nine is to violate a principle even more fundamental than no taxation without representation: no social transformation without representation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Folks, America has changed and sadly most of the Church was not ready and remains unable to adequately address the social upheaval of our times.<\/p>\n

John Stonestreet serves as President of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview. A gifted communicator on areas of faith and culture, theology, worldview, education, and apologetics, John is a sought-after speaker, published author, and respected cultural commentator.<\/p>\n

Since 2012, John and Eric Metaxas have co-hosted BreakPoint,<\/em> the nationally syndicated radio commentary founded by the late Chuck Colson. He is also the voice of the Point<\/em>, a daily one minute radio feature on worldview, apologetics and cultural issues.<\/p>\n

Before coming to the Colson Center in 2010, John served various leadership capacities with Summit Ministries, and was on the Biblical Studies faculty at Bryan College (TN).<\/p>\n

John has co-authored three books: Restoring All Things <\/em>(with Warren Smith, 2015), Same-Sex Marriage <\/em>(with Sean McDowell, 2014), and\u00a0Making Sense of Your World: A Biblical Worldview<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(with Gary Phillips and William Brown, 2007).<\/p>\n

John holds degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (IL) and Bryan College (TN). He and his wife Sarah have three daughters and a dog, and live in Colorado Springs, CO.<\/p>\n
