The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is a foundational belief among all true Christians. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian believers:<\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 15<\/span><\/h1>\n

The Fact of Christ\u2019s Resurrection<\/span><\/h3>\n

15\u00a0<\/span>Now\u00a0I make known to you, brethren, the\u00a0gospel which I preached to you, which also you received,\u00a0in which also you stand,<\/span>\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup>by which also you are saved,\u00a0if you hold fast\u00a0the word which I preached to you,\u00a0unless you believed in vain.<\/span><\/p>\n

3\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0I delivered to you\u00a0as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died\u00a0for our sins\u00a0according to the Scriptures,<\/span>\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>and that He was buried, and that He was\u00a0raised on the third day\u00a0according to the Scriptures,<\/span>\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup>and that\u00a0He appeared to\u00a0Cephas, then\u00a0to the twelve.<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some\u00a0have fallen asleep;<\/span>\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup>then He appeared to\u00a0James, then to\u00a0all the apostles;<\/span>\u00a08\u00a0<\/sup>and last of all, as\u00a0to one untimely born,\u00a0He appeared to me also.<\/span>\u00a09\u00a0<\/sup>For I am\u00a0the least of the apostles,\u00a0and not fit to be called an apostle, because I\u00a0persecuted the church of God.<\/span>\u00a010\u00a0<\/sup>But by\u00a0the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I\u00a0labored even more than all of them, yet\u00a0not I, but the grace of God with me.<\/span>\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup>Whether then\u00a0it was<\/i>\u00a0I or they, so we preach and so you believed.<\/span><\/p>\n

12\u00a0<\/sup>Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there\u00a0is no resurrection of the dead?<\/span>\u00a013\u00a0<\/sup>But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;<\/span>14\u00a0<\/sup>and\u00a0if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.<\/span>\u00a015\u00a0<\/sup>Moreover we are even found\u00a0to be<\/i>\u00a0false witnesses of God, because we testified\u00a0against God that He\u00a0raised\u00a0Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.<\/span>\u00a016\u00a0<\/sup>For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised;<\/span>\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup>and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless;\u00a0you are still in your sins.<\/span>\u00a018\u00a0<\/sup>Then those also who\u00a0have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.<\/span>\u00a019\u00a0<\/sup>If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are\u00a0of all men most to be pitied.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Order of Resurrection<\/span><\/h3>\n

20\u00a0<\/sup>But now Christ\u00a0has been raised from the dead, the\u00a0first fruits of those who\u00a0are asleep.<\/span>\u00a021\u00a0<\/sup>For since\u00a0by a man\u00a0came<\/i>\u00a0death, by a man also\u00a0came\u00a0<\/i>the resurrection of the dead.<\/span>\u00a022\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0as in Adam all die, so also in\u00a0Christ all will be made alive.<\/span>\u00a023\u00a0<\/sup>But each in his own order: Christ\u00a0the first fruits, after that\u00a0those who are Christ\u2019s at\u00a0His coming,<\/span>\u00a024\u00a0<\/sup>then\u00a0comes<\/i>\u00a0the end, when He hands over\u00a0the kingdom to the\u00a0God and Father, when He has abolished\u00a0all rule and all authority and power.<\/span>\u00a025\u00a0<\/sup>For He must reign\u00a0until He has put all His enemies under His feet.<\/span>\u00a026\u00a0<\/sup>The last enemy that will be\u00a0abolished is death.<\/span>\u00a027\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0He has put all things in subjection under His feet<\/span>. But when He says, \u201cAll things are put in subjection,\u201d it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him.<\/span>28\u00a0<\/sup>When\u00a0all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that\u00a0God may be all in all.<\/span><\/p>\n

29\u00a0<\/sup>Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?<\/span>\u00a030\u00a0<\/sup>Why are we also\u00a0in danger every hour?<\/span>\u00a031\u00a0<\/sup>I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord,\u00a0I die daily.<\/span>\u00a032\u00a0<\/sup>If\u00a0from human motives I\u00a0fought with wild beasts at\u00a0Ephesus, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised,\u00a0let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a033\u00a0<\/sup>Do not be deceived: \u201cBad company corrupts good morals.\u201d<\/span>34\u00a0<\/sup>Become sober-minded\u00a0[j<\/a>]<\/sup>as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have\u00a0no knowledge of God.\u00a0I speak\u00a0this<\/i>\u00a0to your shame.<\/span><\/p>\n

35\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0someone will say, \u201cHow are\u00a0the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?\u201d<\/span>\u00a036\u00a0<\/sup>You fool! That which you\u00a0sow does not come to life unless it dies;<\/span>\u00a037\u00a0<\/sup>and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of\u00a0something else.<\/span>\u00a038\u00a0<\/sup>But God gives it a body just as He wished, and\u00a0to each of the seeds a body of its own.<\/span>\u00a039\u00a0<\/sup>All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one\u00a0flesh<\/i>\u00a0of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish.<\/span>\u00a040\u00a0<\/sup>There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the\u00a0glory<\/i>\u00a0of the earthly is another.<\/span>\u00a041\u00a0<\/sup>There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.<\/span><\/p>\n

42\u00a0<\/sup>So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown\u00a0a perishable\u00a0body<\/i>, it is raised\u00a0an imperishable\u00a0body<\/i>;<\/span>\u00a043\u00a0<\/sup>it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in\u00a0glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;<\/span>\u00a044\u00a0<\/sup>it is sown a\u00a0natural body, it is raised a\u00a0spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual\u00a0body<\/i>.<\/span>\u00a045\u00a0<\/sup>So also it is written, \u201cThe first\u00a0man<\/span>, Adam,\u00a0became a living soul<\/span>.\u201d The\u00a0last Adam\u00a0became<\/i>\u00a0a\u00a0life-giving spirit.<\/span>46\u00a0<\/sup>However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.<\/span>47\u00a0<\/sup>The first man is\u00a0from the earth,\u00a0earthy; the second man is from heaven.<\/span>\u00a048\u00a0<\/sup>As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly,\u00a0so also are those who are heavenly.<\/span>\u00a049\u00a0<\/sup>Just as we have\u00a0borne the image of the earthy,\u00a0we\u00a0will also bear the image of the heavenly.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mystery of Resurrection<\/span><\/h3>\n

50\u00a0<\/sup>Now I say this, brethren, that\u00a0flesh and blood cannot\u00a0inherit the kingdom of God; nor does\u00a0the perishable inherit\u00a0the imperishable.<\/span>51\u00a0<\/sup>Behold, I tell you a\u00a0mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be\u00a0changed,<\/span>\u00a052\u00a0<\/sup>in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for\u00a0the trumpet will sound, and\u00a0the dead will be raised\u00a0imperishable, and\u00a0we will be changed.<\/span>\u00a053\u00a0<\/sup>For this\u00a0perishable must put on\u00a0the imperishable, and this\u00a0mortal must put on immortality.<\/span>\u00a054\u00a0<\/sup>But when this\u00a0perishable will have put on\u00a0the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, \u201cDeath is swallowed up<\/span>\u00a0in victory.<\/span>\u00a055\u00a0<\/sup>O\u00a0death, where is your victory<\/span>? O\u00a0death, where is your sting<\/span>?\u201d<\/span>\u00a056\u00a0<\/sup>The sting of\u00a0death is sin, and\u00a0the power of sin is the law;<\/span>\u00a057\u00a0<\/sup>but\u00a0thanks be to God, who gives us the\u00a0victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

58\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in\u00a0the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not\u00a0in<\/i>\u00a0vain in the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n
