In the Bible\u2019s book of Colossians we read these words in 3:12 \u2013 \u201cPut on then, as God\u2019s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.\u201d And in 4:5-6 we read \u201cWalk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas once said, \u201cGood manners will open doors that the best education cannot.\u201d The late Fred Astaire was a prophet when he proclaimed, \u201cThe hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any.\u201d<\/p>\n

Good manners and etiquette are a firm foundation for proper civil discourse. Without good manners and etiquette social interactions quickly become a manifestation of evolutionary dogma \u2013 might makes right and only the strongest survive.<\/p>\n
